My blog is still under construction, so forgive how this page looks. It will improve!
Now, onto the topic at hand.
The Artist Summit is a 3 day series of workshops and lectures by a group of makeup artists, The Powder Group, whom we can say are somewhere close to the top of the food chain in our industry here in the US. They also organize the popoular Makeup shows in NY and LA.
So, what makes the Artist Summit different? Well, it's more about workshops rather than shopping (though there is some shopping going on). It's smaller than most of their other shows, so you get to meet everyone (seriously, I found myself talking to the Artistic Director of Makeup Forever MUFE USA, as well as OCC's owner, the wonderful David Klasfeld. Sheer Bliss). It's all about the workshops being held, seminars are free, hands-on classes are paid for. It's not cheap, but it wasn't crazy expensive.
So, was it worth it?
Absolutely yes.
The smaller, more intimate feel of it, being able to network and talk to so many amazing artists, discounted shopping and signing up for pro discounts, just being able to see how the artists worked and their kits, everything was great. The entire weekend was a blast.
Here's a roll-call summary of events
Awesome hands-on workshops attended: 3
Shopping total: too afraid to tally
No. of Kim Kardashian jokes: 3
Networking opportunites: endless
Will I attend again: YES!!
